Being

What does the word "BEING" mean to you?

To me, is about being more than I am. It's about being what I know I was meant to be. It's about empowering others to see the same in themselves.

Are you exercising the #1 principle of being? Those who do always rise to great measure, increase and more times than not, wealth and power.

Does this describe you?

So what in the world is the #1 principle of being? It's simply the law of being. That's when you become a law unto yourself.

The Movies and You

I'd like to first off take a minute and welcome everyone to July. It's hard to believe that 2008 is over half complete. How has your year been thus far? Are you going where you wanted? Are you getting what you focused on? Keep working on it and it will certainly manifest.

Now, back to my reason for today's post. Does this have anything to do with network marketing or MLM or home business?

I tell you what you decide for yourself, but this has everything to do with life. Your life.

I was originally going to write about a different topic that I was inspired to write after listening to Diane Hochman on a training call last night, but I was moved today.

Today I took the day off from my job and took my 3 kids to the free summer movies at our local theater. And boy am I glad that I did.

What did we see? Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium with the great Dustin Hoffman, Natalie Portman and Justin Bateman. At first I really felt that this would be a great movie for the kids, but as I continued to watch and "decode" if you will some of the story, I was moved.

This movie is not about some crazy man and his magic toy shop. No, it's about life and what we do with it. You see he is in his last days on schoolhouse earth and is giving the store to Portman's character, Molly Mahoney. While you think that this is a sad departure, he is trying to get her to believe in who she really is and that the music that she has tried to put on paper has always been inside of her, she just needed to believe that she could do it.

You see, you have to believe in yourself and others before others can believe in you. How strong is your belief in yourself? In others?

One of the greatest lines in this movie is when Magorium is talking to Molly and he tells her so simply, "Life is an occassion...rise to it." Wow, what a great line. I, personally, will write this everyday and reaffirm it to myself.

Life is a great occassion and you must rise to it. Believe in yourself and your abilities. Continue to read, learn and develop and become who you were meant to be. The music is inside of you, just let it out for the whole world to see. Don't let your last words on schoolhouse earth be, I wish I could of...

Be who you were meant to be, do what you were meant to do and you can have all that you were meant to have.

If you haven't seen it, I highly suggest renting or even buying "Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium". Watch it with the kids. Watch it without the kids. Look and listen for the life lessons hidden in this great film.

We weren't put here just to get by. Be a legacy, leave a legacy. What story will your grandkids have to tell about you? Rise to the occassion.

Are You Focused?

As I sat at home this weekend and experienced one of the greatest feats in golf I have ever seen, I saw a excellent commercial.

I love golf. I love to play it when I can and I love to watch it, especially when Tiger's playing. There is just something about him that makes you go WOW!

Now, I've noticed, like many, that he has something that not too many other people have. Well, I guess I can't say that they don't have it, they just don't harness it like he does.

FOCUS. Undeniable, laser focus.

Bum knee - no big deal.

Down by one on the last hole - no big deal.

Down by one on the last playoff hole - once again, no big deal.

His ability to see what will happen and focus on it and keep it in his head so strong until it appears is what separates him from the field. Yes, all the other players have the skills and everything it takes to be a pro, but they just don't seem to have this type of focus.

Are you focused on what you want and what you are doing?

Are You Using Your Delete Button?

Boy, I really like that title!

And no, I'm not talking about the delete button on your keyboard or your emails.

I'm talking about the delete button in your HEAD.

Okay, now you're wondering what I'm talking about. I've lost you.

No, think about it like this.

Mindset is a really big topic of discussion these days. It should be. It's very important to the success of your daily life. You've got many books out there like "Think and Grow Rich", "The Power of Your Subconscious Mind", "SuperMind" and many, many others.

If you don't have the right mindset, then it's hard to succeed at anything. You've heard the old saying, "Garbage in, garbage out."

It's not necessarily all about what goes in. It really depends on what you do with it when it goes in.

For many people, we were always told as children or we tell our own kids, you can't do this or you can't do that. You can't have this or you can't have that. Think about whether you've been told this or tell this to others. This could set up youngsters for future turmoil.

What if we teach them and ourselves that when we hear other people speak negatively to us or about us, that we not dwell on it. DELETE it!

What if we learn to take things that go into our mind that we know is not congruent with our beliefs or our goals, DELETE it.

Yes, I agree, that this won't be easy to begin with. If you focus on what you and others are putting into your mind and take those things that you know are harmful and hit that big DELETE button in your mind.

Remember, continuously put in good thoughts. Continue to learn new things. Be positive to yourself and others. If you lift up someone else, you lift up yourself. If you believe in someone else, you believe in yourself.

As you go through this weekend and this long summer season, be safe and remember to hit that DELETE button in your mind.

What the heck are you waiting for?

A Confesstion....of sorts.

So what do I mean by this title?

What is it that you are trying to accomplish in life? Have you ever set a goal, yet you never actually achieved that goal? Have you ever wondered why?

I could be a couple of things that kept you from reaching your goal.

1. Your subconscious mind was working against you.
2. You were being too patient.

Let's take a look at the latter for a moment.

Is patience interrupting or keeping you from what you want? It has me and this is where I confess that I have been too patient in my life and I'm mad as hell.

They teach us that patience is a virtue. I can agree with this to a certain point. I will no longer be patient when it comes to my desires. I want time freedom. I want financial freedom. I want to be able to help others when I want to.

No more waiting games. No more being patient because the people will come to you for business. They will as long as I'm doing what I'm suppposed to be doing.

Yes, I know it takes time to build a successful home business and reach the kind of income I desire, but I'm not going to be patient anymore.

Think about the things in your life. Is patience getting in the way of what your desires are?

Have you been "patiently" waiting for your treasures to appear? I know that I have.

NO MORE!!

I'm mad and will no longer allow patience to interrupt my treasures.

Be responsible and give yourself permission to stop being patient.

Do it and do it now!

5 Ways to Position Yourself as a Resource

5 Ways to Position Yourself as a Resource

You’re not a salesperson.
You’re not a consultant.
You’re not a therapist.
You’re not a blogger.
You’re not a writer.
You’re not a coach.

You’re a RESOURCE.

An individual who possesses a valuable supply of (something) that can be readily drawn on when needed.

A resource.

Get. That. Through. Your. Head.

See, when you position yourself as a resource, four things happen:

1. You BECOME the Go-To Person.
2. You DELIVER unique, consistent value.
3. You ESTABLISH mindshare with the people you serve.
4. You ENHANCE your approachability people come BACK to you.

Sound good?

Cool. Here are five daily practices for positioning yourself as a resource:

1. Blog. Once you’ve been blogging steadily for a year or two, you’ll start to accumulate a powerful intellectual asset. And especially if you’ve tagged, titled and categorized your posts strategically, it will be quick and easy to find the right posts at the right time. That way, you could leverage past posts as resources in several ways.

For example, you could…

a. Send emails with relevant links to prospects and clients.
b. Post a “Best Of” list that links to a variety of posts on the same topic.
c. Write an ebook, special report or whitepaper as a compendium of related posts.

2. Catalog. If you’re an avid reader, (and if you’re not, you’re NUTS) a great suggestion is to take a weekend to catalog your personal success library. Sure, it might be a tedious process. But once you’re finished, you’ll not only be more organized, you’ll also be able to use your books as resources for others in a variety of way.

For example, you could…

a. Pull a few key ideas from each book and create a master quote list.
b. Write out a summary document for your Top 20 Favorite Books and start a lens on Squidoo.
c. Create a “Reading for Success” list to pass along to clients, colleagues and coworkers. Use it as a Call To Action at the end of your articles or blog posts, i.e., “For a list of my top 100 books of all time, send an email to…”

3. Introductions. My friend Arthur is the ULTIMATE resource. At the end of every lunch, coffee or brainstorming session we have, he’s always got a list of five people I need to call. Or email. Or get in touch with.

It’s great! And every time he does that, it makes me FEEL great, too. What about you? Are you the kind of person who leaves people with a solid to-do list?

If not, try these incorporating these types of “introductions” into your resource practice:

a. Every Monday morning ask the question, “What two people do I know that need to meet each other?” Send out one email intro every week.
b. Every time you attend a networking event ask the question, “How many referrals can I give while I’m here?” Shoot for five.
c. Every first of the month ask the question, “What two people do I know that I can bring together with for a brainstorming lunch?” They’ll love you!

4. Links. Constantly update and refresh your list of links to articles, blog posts, stories, pictures, videos and clippings that relate to your specific area of expertise. Keep a running list that includes each link AND the type of person (or actual person) who would benefit from reading it.

Then, when you send it out, use Phrases That Payses like:

a. “Thought of you when I read this!”
b. “Hey, isn’t this your main competitor?”
c. “I hope you’ve seen this before – it directly relates to your bottom line!”

5. No’s. If a prospective customer shows interest in your products or services, but you discover you’re NOT the right person or company to help, never say (just) no. Say “No, although I know someone who CAN help you…” That way, you’re still marketing. You still look like the hero. And you’re still associated with the solution to their problem.

And hey, you never know: they may come back in the future when they ARE the right type of customer for you!

Try verbiage like this:

a. “I’d prefer to decline than do a poor job. However, my friend Paul would be the PERFECT guy for you to contact. His website is…”
b. “Although our company probably isn’t the right fit for your project, you may want to try calling some of our friendly competitors at…”
c. “Although I’m certain I could be of (some) assistance, there IS a company that specializes in your type of problem called…”

REMEMBER: If you want to be That Guy, position yourself as a resource.

How do you write ad copy (or even just a simple classified ad) whereby on one piece of paper sits enough sales psychology to fill up a football stadium?

The Thinking Behind The Words
In fact, what is on that piece of paper, posing as an advertisement, was so much sales psychology that it induced 100’s of people to send you money?

Or, to be more “professional,” to buy whatever it was you were selling. How would that work?

I Think For The Reader
How do you write in such a way that the people would not only believe what you were saying, but they would believe you to such an extreme level, that they would actually get excited enough to send you their MONEY?

How do you do that? What would you say?

It’s called “Cognitive Intuition”
How do you “write” ad copy in such a way that is actually induces absolute strangers, who are mesmerized by the words you write, to buy whatever you are selling?

Well, believe this:

30 Million and Growing
I have written ad copy now for six years professionally. And these “little strips” of paper have been the catalyst in moving over $30,000,000 dollars of goods and services.

Yes. There is a formula.

Now listen up. Because this is important. What follows is a very brief four pages of HOW people are CODED.

The Genetic Code
Yes, I am saying that we are all CODED genetically the same way. So much so in fact, that once you know the formula of the "genetic code," you will virtually know how to write in such a way that people’s reactions to what you will write are PREDICTABLE!

What I am saying is that people are predictable. But enough "talk." Let me prove to you what I mean. From my course, "The Cash Flow Recruiting Machine!"


All humans are genetically coded the same way.

This we know for sure about people:

People are drawn to blood and decay faster than they are good news.

I Am Negative
The headlines in my ads are negative. Show people a negative and they seek to survive the negative by learning about it. People study my ads like they do the six O’clock news. Why? To avoid
MORE PAIN possibly tomorrow!

"Where’s the beef?" That was a negative ad from Wendy’s.

"Don’t leave home without it!" the AMEX TV commercials are totally negative. They show people having a HARD TIME when they lose their luggage and clothes when they travel. But, if you have American Express (solution) you are saved!

Have you ever noticed how cars on the highway will come to a stop just to see dead people that have crashed their cars? Perverse for sure.
It’s also how people are. Isn’t it?

The first column on the left of each of my ads always gets the reader to nod their heads and say, "this guy Joe is talking about me". I accomplish that by being the reader.

When you look at the left column of my full page ads notice how I am identifying with every Networkers worst dreams. Things I KNOW they have felt before. About recruiting in MLM.

When you watch the SOPRANOS on HBO (you Do watch that don’t you!) have you ever wondered what they "big deal" is and why everyone in America is ga-ga over this "Mafia" TV show?

Here’s one answer. It has to do with RAPPORT.

The appeal is that when you watch the SOPRANOS you are watching yourself.

Can People Relate To a Sociopath?
We all are like Tony (the lead and also a killer). And the appeal is how "normal" Tony is. He is an "everyman." He is also a murderer. And as people watch it they subconsciously get a thrill by being so much like someone they are so opposite of.

In your ads, if the reader can not relate to you or what you are selling they won’t trade their money with you. Watch the SOPRANOS to see what I mean. Sundays @ 9.

People will do more to avoid pain than they will to gain pleasure.

Based on this fact about people I do NOT advertise pleasure. Thus, I do NOT advertise MLM products or highlights any MLM company.

Because I know the genetic code of people, I gain their attention by identifying and highlighting their pain.

Survival Mechanism
Thus, because I write about better SURVIVAL techniques in MLM, readers will STUDY my ad copy before they will read traditional "company" (vanity) advertising. Based on people’s preconditioned disposition, (they avoid pain) people have NO CHOICE but to read my ads. Because we are built to avoid pain and discomfort.

Any good ad solves a problem and HIGHLIGHTS the anguish and pain the reader is presently experiencing. Read the left column of my "bag ad" again. The left column is all rapport building and about shared anguish.

People will avoid humiliation and rejection at almost any cost.

I Sell Solutions:
My job is easy because I sell SOLUTIONS. The middle column of all of my full page ads shows the SOLUTION to whatever pain I identified on the far left column. Thus, if what I am selling will erase people’s predictable.

Embarrassment or perceived anguish (ever try enrolling someone for instance?) people tend to give me money in their own attempt to SOLVE THEIR ANGUISH.

People buy through emotional impulse before they begin to sort information logically.

Marketing Hypnotism
It’s easier to tap into people’s subconscious when they hear your voice but they can not see the face who is speaking.

That’s is WHY all hypnotist and Doctors ask you to CLOSE your eyes from time to time. Listening to someone’s VOICE (just their voice) can by very hypnotic. Which gives the speaker (me) a chance to sell and re-sell and re-sell the person.

Lesson: I always list a 24 hour recorded message in my ads:

Sensory Acuity
I do this to take people who read my ads from VISUAL to AUDIBLE. These voice-mail Tel-a-seminars introduce an alternate way for them to grasp my message and to feel the offer.

People hate to be wrong.

This is why I use additional links of information in my ad copy. Such as my web-site or a fax-on-demand or my Tel-a-seminars. I do this because I know people. And people can not RESIST the temptation to

"challenge" their own belief in what they just read (remember, people HATE to be wrong), so they will go through all of the INFORMATION ports for one reason.

TO VALIDATE themselves. Plus, before people send me money from the ads that I place they feel COMPELLED to hear my VOICE and to see how I sound and to see if they have made a WRONG decision.

Not only that, but by adding a QUICK LINK (fax-on-demand, voice-mail and web site) system to ANY of your ads, you take the reader into multiple sensory perceptions (sight, sound and touch) regarding your sales message and (USP) your unique selling proposition.

Bind someone emotionally and give them ownership and they almost can never give it back.

When you hear my Tel-a-seminars (15-30 recorded Tel-a-seminars) I do NOT sell anybody. Instead, I induce OWNERSHIP by teaching and exposing what I know.

What this does is give OWNERSHIP to the listener.

So when you hear and then you learn parts of my system via the recorded (sales pitch) Tel-a-seminar people THINK to themselves, "I have to buy Joe’s system so I can USE what Joe just gave (taught) me."

Plus, when you GIVE VALUE people will usually feel compelled (law of reciprocity) to buy from you AFTER you give them value and teach them USEABLE information.

What's The Hurry?

What is the hurry in network marketing/mlm? Why are we usually taught when we come in to go so fast and only talk to prospects for a short period of time? Sure, I can understand that there are those that are certainly not worth the 30 seconds we give them, but what about the rest?

Don't those who are looking for a home business deserve our time? I know what many are saying. I need the bonus commissions or what have you now. Don't you agree that the more time that your prospects have to learn about you and your business, the better off you will be. If we let them take their time and feed them knowledge and learning, I think we'd have better prospects and potential business leaders.

We all want to make money in this industry and help change lives, but speed is the wrong way. Do you think any of the largest and wealthiest companies in the world work like what we are taught? Let's take my favorite bookstore, Barnes and Noble, for example. Do they have someone standing in the door waiting for you to come in and help you get what you want and get you out the door as fast as they can? NO! They have coffee shops, tables and chairs, sofas everywhere so that you will take your time looking for what you want. Maybe you'll find more than you were looking for, thumb through it on a sofa and buy more than you originally planned. Genius, isn't it? Think about it the next time you go there.

So, I say, take your business and slow it down. As my mentor, Joe Schroeder, says, "To go fast in your business, go slow. To go slow, go fast." Think about it.

Have You Been Branded?

Isn't that an interesting title? Have you been branded? Well, have you? Do you even have a clue what I am talking about? Let's discuss this for a moment.

Are you currently involved in network marketing, mlm, direct sales, etc.? What company do you promote? Ah, that's it, what company do you promote? You see if you're like me, I've been involved with network marketing for over 7 years. I was taught the same thing that many of you were. That is to promote and sell the products or the company. That's how you make the money.

This is where the difference between branded and branding comes in. You see, when you walk into a McDonalds' or any restaurant or most anywhere for that matter, what is the first thing you hear? Welcome to .... how can I help you? Right? By doing this, the company is taking their nice hot iron and poking you with it and saying, gotcha now, you've been branded. Pretty much like animals are.

Are you branded or branding? I know from personal experience that I used to be branded. That's right, used to be. I've always promoted company and products first, not me. Yes, I have the t-shirts, polo shirts, jackets, folders, pens, etc. of my company and I love all that stuff. It wasn't until I got involved with the Million Mind March did I realize that I was branded.

How could people join me in my business if I didn't believe in or brand me? If people know you, trust you and like you, then they will join you in whatever you do. The key is that you have to promote yourself. You have to believe that you are a leader that people are looking for. If your prospects were to do a Google search for you, what would they find. Think about it, try it.

Think of some of the biggest names in the network marketing industry. If I gave you one of their names you would probably be able to tell me what company that they are associated with because they have been branding themselves all along.

Those of us involved in this great industry all want success. Are you there yet? I know that I am working on it everyday like most of you. I now know that I have to be branding me. If people see that you are the leader that they've been looking for, then it won't matter too much what company you're with. Think again back to the biggest names in the industry. If you heard that so and so big name was leaving XYZ company to go to ABC company, what would his people do? Most of them would more than likely follow him because he has been branding himself as the leader that people should follow. Happens everyday.

I've gone on long enough, but I hope that you will take what I've put before you and think about it. Are you branding you or are you branded by your company? I look forward to bringing you more insight for you to apply to your business.

What is Your Business?

Interesting question isn't it? Maybe you have a home business, own a franchise, you're an internet marketer, you're just an employee working a job. This questions applies to all who earn an income. What is your business?

I know what you're probably thinking. I sell nutritionals, information, stocks, real estate, etc. The list could go on forever, but is this your business. Think about it real hard, I had to when I was first asked about it.

Still thinking? If you are in a true business of any kind and you take pride in what you do, then your real business is people. That's right, people. Think about it for a minute. Without people would you even have a business? Probably not. How do others become wealthy? People.

Are you succeeding in your business or do you want more success in your business? Then take your focus off of your "stuff" and put the focus where it should be, on the people. Do an experiment this week and focus more on people then on what you sell and see what happens at the end of the week. Focus on helping them, aiding them, or just pointing them in the right direction.

How do you think your customers or prospects would feel if you would point them in the right direction, even if it's not with you. Do you think they would trust you a little more and remember the experience? Who knows, maybe they would even come back to you if they have a bad experience somewhere else.

That's your assignment for the week - focus on people. See how it affects not only your business, but you. Let me know how things worked out for you. I know you'll be surprised at the results. You deserve the best, but you must also give the best.

It's 2008! Are You Ready?

Welcome to the year 2008! You made it one more year and this will be your best year yet. This year you will build a foundation of success that will last a lifetime and beyond. This is the time for you to lay the groundwork for leaving your legacy.

Are you ready to take action? I'm ready to take you and give you what you need to help your success show up. So how did your 2007 end? I hope on a great note, but now it's time to go to work. What are you going to do this day, week, month, year that will be different? Do you even want your life to be different or do you want to continue struggling to get by or having more month at the end of your money? Not me. I deserve more, my family deserves more and YOU deserve more.

If you are already involved in network marketing/mlm and haven't had the success that you desire or you have not yet found a company to get started with, then you need to learn the way the successful do it. I am part of a community of like-minded entrepreneurs who are learning that there is a better way to make money in this industry or any industry for that matter.
